Confessions of a Cupcake Slacker
October 3, 2008 at 7:59 AM | Posted in non-cupcake, random | 25 CommentsDearest readers,
Forgive the lack of updates.
I know. I know. I am such a …
Its not for a lack of recipes, ideas, cupcake events etc. I have 30 drafts that are waiting to be finished and published. Rather I’ve been bitten (…and it aint the good SJP kind either); bitten by the blogger’s block bug.
I find myself in a quandary lately. My usual spontaneous surge of cupcake enthusiasm is on vacation. I am hopeful it will be back from some fabulous beach soon though.
TGIF.
Your friendly neighborhood cupcake slacker,
C to the B
PS. What do you do for some blogging motivation? Drink green tea? Yoga? Re-arrange furniture? Shopping? Help me find my mojo again!?!?

You know, sometimes I just don’t wanna! Usually if I lay low for a couple (almost typed “cupple”. Too many cuppycakes!) days or weeks, it’ll just kinda come back. Usually something fun will happen and I’ll get on another roll…can’t force it!

I read other blogs for inspiration. Or flip through magazines. Or read online cooking magazines like food and wine or southern living. They always have something that looks fab.
I get the slacker bug a lot. It happens to all of us. Youll be back in the swing of things soon.

Luckily, I haven’t had that problem yet. I’m always two or three posts ahead in my mind. Sometimes I write little tidbits down on a pad so I don’t forget ideas. I always feel like there’s so much to create and I wish the days were twice as long or I only needed one or two hours of sleep. Halloween is coming up – how about something cupcakey for that?
S.W.A.K.
P.S. – I’m going to post another Halloween giveaway on my blog later today. Why don’t you enter – it has to do with CHOCOLATE and I’m sure that will perk you up!

As you might have noticed I get into this funk more often than not. I think a lot of it has to do with the time commitment. It takes me a LONG time to post things, especially if I’m taking & adding photos. As I’m cooking I even think about how I might blog about it, but when the time comes, sitting at the computer, fighting with the program just doesn’t seem worth it.
So I think finding a way to streamline the process would get me the most motivated. It hasn’t happened yet.

I hear you loud and clear, Clara! I’ve felt the same way lately (I’ve been working more on non-baking crafts) and all I can say is that it’s best just to let the inspiration come back naturally. You can’ really force yourself. Remember, quality over quantity!
Don’t worry, we don’t care if you’re slacking because we know once you do come back with something it’s going to be outstanding!

SUMMER, LOL @ cupple. Thank you. Thats how I feel. I just don’t wanna. ::stomping feet:: Hopefully I’ll get on a kick again soon.
LW, Good call about reading other blogs or magazines. I have some CL magazines that need some attention. xoxo
MARSHA, That’s awesome. Thats the thing though. I have ideas. I have 1/2 written posts but I am just feeling lazy about finishing them. Halloween? I do have sketches for Halloween cupcakes. Maybe I’ll work on those. ::off to check out your blog giveaway::
ZEBE, I totally do the same thing. While I am baking or cooking I am already envisioning the pictures and how I want to write up my post. I am such a dork. When you find a more streamlined way, let me know. This slacker needs some short cuts. HAHA
NIKKI, Appreciate the comment love. It really helps to see slacker emphasized so much. Thanks for that. LOL
TANYA, I love your non-cooking crafts! That cupcake crossstitch is so adorable. I meant what I said about letting me know when you open your etsy store, k? Thanks for the encouragement. I promise I won’t let you down…

Bully your friends inot not being slackers? Come up with impossible ideas? Give in to your slackerness and join the club?
Comment by lemontartlet— October 3, 2008 #
LEMONTARTLET, I will take option #3. hehe

I have also hit the bloggers block. But my issue is now time and energy. I have neither these days. New job and school…whew. Hope you get back into the swing of things. I love seeing your cuppycake creations. :)

SUSAN, I definitely think I have a lack of energy lately. Not sure if its the weather change or what. Congrats about your new job!

I wish I knew lol Since starting back school and being consumed with the Twilight saga I’ve been kinda overwhelmed. I’m so busy I barely get to think about my blog :( You’re doing a heck of a lot better than me!
Comment by Kristina— October 3, 2008 #
KRISTINA, You’re reading the twilight series? Ok your blog slacking is forgiven. HAHA. I couldn’t put it down! Vegan vampires rule!

I think you should take a little trip–either literally on a plane out of town or to a section of your own town or a nearby town and go to a cupcake shop or bakery that you have never been to before. You can review the cupcakes and get inspired.
Comment by Kristen— October 3, 2008 #
KRISTEN, A trip out of town sounds like exactly what I need. I wonder if I could convince the hubs that my mental health depends on a trip to Vegas. hehe
Comment by CB— October 3, 2008 #
Me and DH are going to Vegas in a couple of weeks, I’ll meet you there and we can find some cupcake inspiration!
Comment by Kristen— October 4, 2008 #
KRISTEN, oh man. That would be sweet. I’ve been wanting to taste test The Cupcakery in Vegas but I have a feeling that hubs will veto my impromptu Vegas idea. If you make it out to The Cupcakery, come back with a review for me, k?

There is NO WAY I’m gonna miss IC or DB this month. I have millions of ideas for both! :D Glad to know I’m not the only slacker here!
Comment by howtoeatacupcake— October 4, 2008 #
HTEAC, Good for you! I had to quit DB b/c I couldn’t keep up since I do TWD every week but I am definitely gonna fit IC in this month since I missed last month. There’s just so many events that I wanna enter! How do I choose?? I can’t wait to see what you come up with for IC!

Don’t look at me. My poor blog has been relegated to the back burner lately too.
Comment by Mary— October 5, 2008 #
MARY, I noticed that too! Miss your BUs. Maybe both our blogging mojos are on a beach somewhere huh? I don’t blame them if they wanna stay on vacay. HAHA

You need a dose of fall inspiration! Find yourself some leaves and pumpkin pie (or cupcakes). Good luck!
Comment by The Blond Duck— October 6, 2008 #
THEBLONDDUCK, so true. Its a little hard in CA to find fall. I’ll have to dig deep. HAHA

This introduces a pleasingly rational point of view.
