   You HAVE to read Before Ever After by Samantha Soto! What a great story! Here’s a overview of it http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10230881-before-ever-after

   I ordered it on Amazon two weeks ago, I usually buy the kindle version but the hard cover was only $1 more… so it was a no brainer :) I couldn’t put it down, it was that good!

   I’m currently reading The Last Coyote by Michael Connely – I love it, it’s one of those page-turner mysteries about a detective trying to figure out who killed his mother years ago when he was a kid. I would recommend it to anyone who likes thrillers like this! :)

   I just finished reading Shanghai Girls last night. Good book, I’m torn about the ending… can’t wait to discuss it at book club next week :) yup I’m a dork…

   I keep going back to my ‘old faithful.’ Do you like mysteries? One of my favorites is Dorothy L. Sayers, the Lord Peter Wimsey collection. There are quite a few but I most enjoy the ones with Lord Peter and Harriet Vane and they start with “Strong Poison.” It’s a wonderful series set in the ’30′s.

   I’m currently reading “Death in the City of Light: The Serial Killer of Nazi-Occupied Paris”. It’s completely captivating in a weird morbid way.

   I have too many books I love. and it all depends on what sort of books you like.

   I’m currently reading “Callie’s Tally,” which is about how much a baby costs in the first year, and it’s been rather humorous. It’s written in a journal style so it reads pretty fast.

   A real page turner that is sort of a Christmas book, but still good to read anytime, is “The Christmas Sweater,” by Glenn Beck. I flew through it in a few days after I got it, and it was GREAT.

   I listened to it as a book on CD, but “The Blue Zone” was really an attention grabber, very suspenseful and enjoyable on a long car ride in my case.

   “Water for Elephants” is a good one, so is “The Glass Castle.” Memoirs of a Geisha was much better than the movie.

   I liked “Plain Truth” by Jodi Picoult as well.

   if you enjoy fantasy, the Dragonkeeper Chronicles are wonderful reads, the first book is “Dragonspell,” and they are by Donita K. Paul. She is a Christian Fantasy author and I devour her books. She’s also done some other books as well, including “Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball” which I thoroughly enjoyed.

   If you want non-fiction I’d recommend Jim Henson The Works, and Michael J. Fox’s “Lucky Man.”

   The list goes on and on, and I could continue, but I think I at least that seems like several options. :)

    Im a big sappy romantic and I’d recommend reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon in case you’re in the mood to fall in love with a 18th century Scotsman ;D

    Three of Mitch Albom’s books are my favorite. Tuesdays with Morrie, Five People You’ll Meet in Heaven, and Have a Little Faith.

    To be honest, I cried and laughed through each of these books and I can read them again and again.

    I just finished “Sing You Home” by Jodi Picoult. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but was very good nonetheless. I also really enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy–I couldn’t put it down!

    I just read “Matched” by Ally Condie. It was pretty good. It is the first in a 3-book series. (I love series books!) It wasn’t nearly as good as Hunger Games or the Twilight series, but it was entertaining. I rented it from the library…I am not sure I would purchase it though.
    If you are looking for a more grown-up book recomendation, read “Room” by Emma Donoghue. It is a book that is told from the persepctive of a 5 year old boy who is being held captive with his mother in a room. VERY INTERESTING!

    This is COMPLETELY different, but I’m into true crime and I’m reading “Helter Skelter.” It’s about the Manson murders. Though if you’re looking for something more uplifting, I love the book “Tattoos On The Heart” by Father Gregory Boyle about working with gang members in L.A.

    Haven’t read much lately – but two of my favorites are Hadassah: One Night with the King (by Mark Andrew Olsen and Tommy Tenny , it’s the story of Queen Ester – should I always have that courage) and The Choice (byNicholas Sparks- The latter has left me thinking for MONTHS… )

    I am currently reading a very enjoyable book called Two for the Road written by a husband and wife team, Jane and Michael Stern who have a love affair with American Food and travel across the country together writing about their adventures. If you like travel, comfort food and love this book is for you!

    The last book I finished reading was The Reader by Bernhard Schlink. I just started reading One Day by David Nicholls. I’m trying to read books by non-American authors because the grammar is somewhat different from the American language. It’s interesting to read :-)

    I recently read Sarah’s Key which is about the Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup in Paris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vel%27_d%27Hiv_Roundup). This is not a happy story, but I was totally engrossed in the book. I would recommend it if you like historical fiction. If you don’t do sad books I’d probably look for something else. I also watched the movie with Kristen Scott Thomas (most of it is in French) and thought it did a pretty good job of following the book plot.

    Honestly? Right now I’m just diving into Sky High Triple Layer Cakes (I can’t remember the actual title, but I’ve heard such good things about it for so long that I finally couldn’t resist when I received an unexpected Amazon gift card.) I’m sure you know the one I’m talking about. And, yes, I do read cookbooks. Why do you ask? ;-)

    Debbue Macomber’s Blossom Street Series! I’ve read six of them so far (or… ok, so i’ve listened to them on Audible), and I love them! They are inspirational, with advice on life intertwined with the story of a yarn shop and everyone connected to it. There is a lot of reference to knitting, but you don’t have to be a knitter to like the series. As with many of her books, Macomber makes readers feel at home and like they are deeply to connected to the characters in the book and their lives. I especially like Alix, as she is a young baker who, while having a tougher life than I, reminds me a lot of myself. The baking is probably what drew me in the first place…
    A definite read!

    I am reading Breaking Dawn right now. I never wanted to see the Twilight series until I read the books. I must say that the books are fantasic! They are far more detailed than the movie and I love them.

    I’m just about to start re-reading “Love & Romanpunk” by Tansy Rayner Roberts. It’s a quick read, but awesome! Delves into history and mythology in a really fun way.

    I love love love The Hunger Games triology! They were so exciting to read that I finished all three in a week! I’m rereading the first one and it’s better the second time! Suzanne Collins wrote with such great detail and imagery that it’s like I’m one of the characters in the book. I can’t wait to see the movie!

    I love the book “Love and Respect” by Dr. Emmerett Eggerson. It is all about women and men loving one another well in a marriage relationship. It has changed the way I have related and loved my man!

    Wow, the Hunger Games seems a shoe-in, and I’d have to agree, once you start, you won’t be able to stop. Be sure to read them before seeing the first movie.

    However, if you want my suggestion, it would have to be Still Alice by Lisa Genova. If you have any friends or family members, of family of friends, who have been touched by Alzheimer’s Disease, this is a must read. My 90 year-old mother has been struggling with dementia for the past several years and this book really put into perspective for me what it must be like for her. It is so easy to get caught up in “what this is doing to my life” as her child, that we forget to take a step back and think about how she must feel with the frustrations as well. It’s quite an eye opener and I strongly recommend it, personal involvement or not.
