Finaly found some one who tried to cook out of this book and found what i did. Nothing is right. Not to mention tasteless. The more I
tried this weekend the worse it got. Index Cherry cupcake. The only cherries were on top. Which called for 12 cherries to 18 cakes. I dought if any one tested this book or check of index. I have cooked for many years and read cookbooks like great novels. This has to be the worst. To bad they got money for this. I'm glad i bought used.

The 500 cupcakes recipes calling for self-rising flour are disappointing. Dry and crumbly. i agree the book is worth purchasing for inspiration, but only that. Self-rising flour and superfine sugar do not make for the best cupcake.

I agree, not a fan of 500 cupcakes. Its a great picture book and may stimulate ideas but, I don't like the idea of self rising flour. I would rather control my levening agents. I will say, that I really like the book, "Cake Love" by Warren Brown. He talks about the science of making a cake which allows you to understand when and why ingredients are used/added. Plus, the frosting recipes are TA-DIE for!!!

I completely agree with your review of 500 cupcakes. I usually use it to get inspiration and then use recipes I know are good. I don't buy self rising flour either.
